Major Milestones:
1959: Zack H. Bacon, Jr. forms Bacon & Company in Raleigh.
1974: Helms-Parrish Properties, direct forerunner to today’s Prudential Carolinas Realty, opens in Winston-Salem.
1980: Merrill Lynch acquires Townsend Realty of Charlotte, the largest real estate firm in North Carolina at the time, and changes the landscape. Merrill Lynch will later sell its nationwide real estate division to Prudential Real Estate.
1991: Zack Bacon, Grange Cuthbert, Muriel Helms Sheubrooks, Robert Helms and C. Dan Joyner return Prudential offices across the Carolinas to local ownership.
2004: Winston-Salem’s Graham & Boles Properties merges with Prudential Carolinas Realty.
