An authentic living history town situated in downtown Winston-Salem, Old Salem provides many opportunities for people of all ages to learn all about the history of our area, the colonial period era, and the German-speaking Moravian founders of this community. A bakery, restaurant, and children’s museum are also a part of the experience.

Guided tours are available for a close-up look at one of the finest collections of pre-1820 Southern antiquities in the world, including furniture, paintings, crafts and metalwares.

A place for children to have fun learning about science, SciWorks includes a Planetarium, hands-on exhibits, public programs and 15 acre Environmental Park.

Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art ----- (336)725-1904
Rotating contemporary art exhibits, plus a gift shop offering unique contemporary crafts.

Reynolda House Museum of American Art ----- (336) 725-5325
The former home of the founders of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, this National Historic Property, built in the early 1900’s, showcases many American paintings of the 18th-20th centuries. The house adjoins lovely formal gardens and many of the support buildings have been converted to the shops and restaurants of Reynolda Village.

The first Moravian village in North Carolina, Bethabara was settled in 1753 and now stands as a 175 acre park with 18th century homes, church, palisade fort, cabins and gardens. A wildlife preserve features wetland education trails and a raised walkway.

Located on the campus of Wake Forest University, the museum offers exhibits on the cultures and inhabitants of the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania. It is the only museum devoted to the study of world cultures in the southeastern United States.
